Project on capacity building on Inclusive Education conducted by Thailand International Cooperation Agency has commenced today.

This program is aimed at professionals at the Department of Inclusive Education, teachers, and parents of some key schools in the Maldives.

Participants of the training are divided in to 2 groups who will take part in the program in the two phases of the program.

By the end of the program, trainees are expected to understand the characteristics associated with autism and learning disabilities, learning about the concept of inclusive education and teaching strategies for students with autism and students with learning disabilities in the inclusive classroom, practice on applying guidelines and conducting assessment tools in order to teach and support children with special needs with the focus on children with autism and children with learning with disabilities and practice on how to supervise teachers at Inclusive School. In addition to that, both parties from the Maldives and Thailand are expected to exchange ideas on the national policy of Inclusive Education for future improvement.    

Professors of the Srinakarinwirot University (SWU), Thailand, and officials of the Asia-Pacific Development Centre on Disability (APCD) will work as facilitators of the program.
