“Leadership for Equity and Inclusion for School Principals” training aimed at school leaders ends

“Leadership for Equity and Inclusion for School Principals” training aimed at school leaders has concluded.

The 5-Week training program is a collaborative program of the Department of Inclusive Education and Queensland University of Technology.

The online closing ceremony was graced by the presence of Minister of State for Education, Aishath Athiya Naseer.

Speaking at the ceremony, State Minister Athiya noted that the provision of inclusive education to all students is a vital priority of the government, and it is important for school leaders to participate in such training to achieve that goal.

Speaking on behalf of the facilitators of the program, Professor Suzanne Carrington noted the challenges of conducting such trainings online. She also hopes that the training helped start dialogue regarding the provision of inclusive education in the Maldives.

“Leadership for Equity and Inclusion for School Principals” will throw light on the international understanding of inclusive education, values to support inclusion, as well as ways to work with teachers and parents to transform school communities.

A total of 30 principals from different schools across the country will participate in the training program.
