Aiming to Strengthen Inclusive Education: Internship Program Launched for Workplace Readiness

In a significant step towards effective implementation of the inclusive education policy, a new program has been launched to prepare students for the workplace. The internship program is being conducted in collaboration with UNICEF Maldives, emphasizing a successful transition from education to employment.

This initiative is aligned with Section 5(a)(8) of the Inclusive Education Policy 2021, which highlights the importance of ensuring all students are actively involved in a structured and seamless progression from one stage to the next, fostering effective transition. One of the core components of the inclusive education policy is the development of a robust system that enables a smooth shift from the learning phase to the working phase, thereby preparing students for life beyond school.

The intern participating in this internship program is a dedicated student who has successfully passed the O-level examination. The program is being implemented at R. Maakurathu School, chosen for its commitment to providing quality education to a motivated student. This initiative aims to enable the intern to gain essential knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed for entry into the job market.

As part of this internship, the intern will work as a student teacher focused on learning and implementing inclusive digital technology within the school. Moreover, the intern will take on the main responsibility of preparing and managing the department's podcast series, Shaamilu Podcast.

Maakurathu School's dedication to inclusive education is well reflected in this program, serving as a recognition of the school’s efforts and a step towards ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed in both education and the workplace.
