Two-Day Workshop on Developing Specific Learning Disabilities Screening Tool Concludes

The Department of Inclusive Education (DoIE), in partnership with the Commonwealth of Learning – Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (COL-CEMCA), has concluded a two-day validation workshop to develop a Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) Screening Tool for Maldivian schools.

The workshop gathered key education stakeholders to review and validate draft SLD screening parameters and an evidence-based intervention framework tailored to the Maldivian curriculum.

Participants defined the roles and responsibilities of teachers and schools in the screening process and discussed a roadmap for system-wide implementation. The workshop also produced actionable recommendations for a capacity-building program to help Maldivian schools effectively identify and support students with specific learning disabilities.

This initiative is an important step in strengthening inclusive education in the Maldives by promoting early identification and evidence-based support for students with specific learning disabilities. It aims to ensure all students have equitable opportunities for success.
