Empowering Inclusive Vision: Assistive Technology and Basic Braille Training Concludes

The Department of Inclusive Education (DoIE), under the Thaiba Initiative, facilitated an Assistive Technology and Basic Braille Training Program from 21–25 September 2026 in Penang, Malaysia.

AI EduLead Global organized the five-day program in collaboration with St. Nicholas’ Home, Penang, with 18 participants, including 14 teachers from seven schools and four staff members from DoIE.

The program provided participants with practical learning opportunities focused on inclusive pedagogy for students with visual impairments, Braille, assistive technology, accessible learning, and daily living skills. Participants also explored technology and artificial intelligence to support learning, including Seeing AI, an AI application for low vision, and Taptilo, a Braille learning application.

The training also included practical sessions on basic ICT skills, Microsoft digital skills, Braille punctuation and symbols, orientation and mobility, and daily living skills for persons who are blind.
