First batch of the Capacity Building of Teachers for Skills-Based Programs through National Trade Testing Certification, conducted under the Thaiba Initiative concludes

The first batch of the Capacity Building of Teachers for Skills-Based Programs through National Trade Testing Certification, conducted under the Thaiba Initiative, has successfully concluded.

Launched in November 2025, the programme was conducted in collaboration with the Polytechnic and included a one-week training program, followed by National Trade Testing conducted by the Maldives National Skills Development Authority (MNSDA).

A total of 29 teachers from 24 schools obtained nationally recognised certificates across six skills fields. This includes 13 teachers certified in Fashion Design and Sewing Techniques, 7 in Pastry and Bakery, 5 in Cake Decoration, 2 in Electrical Installation and Maintenance, 1 in Art Skills, and one in Photography.

The program is implemented under the System Transformation Grant (STG) of the Thaiba Initiative, funded by the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), with UNICEF Maldives serving as the grant agent.

The program aims to strengthen the knowledge, skills, and capacity of teachers delivering vocational programmes for students with special learning needs, supporting the development of more inclusive and accessible skills-based learning opportunities.
