Capacity Building Program Equips Qur’an Teachers with Inclusive Teaching Strategies

The Department of Inclusive Education held a two-day Capacity Building Program on Inclusive Pedagogy and Practice for Qur’an teachers from schools across Malé City. 35 Qur’an teachers participated to enhance inclusive teaching in Qur’an education.

The program aimed to strengthen teachers' knowledge and practical skills to better support students with diverse needs. Sessions addressed inclusive policy and practice, the referral process and Individualized Curriculum Plan (ICP), understanding diverse learners, access arrangements, differentiated instruction, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).

The sessions were facilitated by the technical staff of the Department. In addition to that, Mohamed Riyaz, Senior Lecturer at Maldives National University, led a session on effective teaching strategies for Qur’an education. He presented practical methods to make Qur’an instruction more accessible and responsive to diverse student needs.

This training program is part of the Department's ongoing efforts to build educator capacity and promote inclusive education throughout the Maldives.
